FUTURE Shed Frome is calling on anyone who works with textiles and clothing to get involved in an inspiring new network of makers, designers and stitchers coming together to address reuse and recycling textiles.

A spokesperson for Future Shed Frome, which is part of the Green & Healthy Future for Frome programme, said, “It is well known that clothing and fast fashion have a huge environmental impact through carbon emissions and water pollution in manufacturing with tons of textiles ending up in landfill.
“We want to take action locally – creatively and practically. On Friday 20th May we are having our next meet up to focus on what we can do together, and for this meeting we are at Frome Town Hall.
“We’re inviting anyone working with textiles or clothing in Frome and the surrounding area, to come along and find out more, and join our growing network of friendly people of all ages. The meet up starts at 10am in the main chamber, an accessible space. If you can’t make it in person, get in touch so we can keep you updated, or follow us on social media.”
Karie Hicks of Crown Yard Hats in Frome brings her concern for the environment into her creations. Karie participated in the first two meet-ups. She said, “It was really inspiring to meet so many creative, skilled people who share a passion and concern for the issue of textile sustainability, environmental impact, and responsible sourcing. Very much look forward to seeing how we can turn this into something of value and impact.”
Future Shed, part of Edventure Frome, is a space where people can come together to share ideas and bring environmental initiatives and enterprises to fruition around climate and health.
