FROME Town United’s U8s and U10s girls’ team have been treated to a new kit to help spur them on to success in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Barratt Homes is the new sponsor for both the U8s and U10s, and the head of girls’ football at Frome Town United, Ben Bolland, says the players have already been wearing their new sponsored strip with pride.
Ben said, “The U8s and U10s girls have been training through our ‘Wildcats football programme at Frome Town United for a while, but this is the first time they’ve had the opportunity to have their own kit and play in matches against other local girls’ teams.
“They recently wore their brand-new kit in their first ever match against Shepton U10 Girls which was a fantastic, close game for both teams and a massively positive event for girls’ football – our U8 girls will repeat this in a couple of weeks when take on Shepton’s U8s in their new Barratt-sponsored kit which they’ll wear with pride and loads of excitement.”
Frome Town United, which is run completely by volunteers, formed last year when three previous Frome Junior Football Clubs came together as one during the pandemic.
Ben added, “We offer football for boys and girls from primary school right through to young adults where we feed into both Frome Town Men’s team and Frome Town Women’s team. Around 700 boys and 100 girls play football with us every week – we charge parents an annual fee and receive some funding from football related bodies and charities; however we fundraise relentlessly to meet our many costs. All our kits are 100% sponsor funded and each team has a unique sponsor that supports that team.”
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt Homes, added, “Both Barratt and Frome Town United will benefit greatly from the partnership. Frome Town United’s continuing role in bringing people together through sport mirrors our dedication to create and build local communities. As a local business, we’re proud to support the U8s and U10s girls’ teams and we wish them all every success this season.”
