After going 1-0 down to Slimbridge within the first minute, a brace of goals in each half gave Frome what might appear to be a comfortable victory, but the match itself was much more even than the scoreline might suggest.
Frome had the worst possible start in the first minute as a regulation back pass to the normally immaculate Kyle Phillips allowed Rudi McKinnon time to nip in, win the ball and roll it into the empty net.
However the lead only lasted two minutes as James Ollis found himself unmarked in the Slimbridge box and headed home a right wing corner from close range in the 3rd.
In the 47th minute, after a half in which Slimbridge had possibly looked the better side for long periods, Luke Hopper gave the home side the lead as a Sam Teale downward header following a corner, allowed him to turn and lob the ball over the stranded Lewis Adams from close range.
Ollis made it 3-1 in the 57th as he headed home at the far post after a trademark tricky run and cross from Jon Davies, and after George Rigg had hit a 20 yard dipping volley against the underside of the Slimbridge bar, only for the ball to bounce down on the line and out again.
In the 63rd, Hopper produce another 20 yard sublime dipping volley that this time sailed perfectly into the far corner to give Frome a 4-1 advantage, and although Slimbridge never gave up and went very close through Marley Thomas in the 75th, Frome never looked to be in any real trouble and so it proved.
• The rearranged cup game away vs Radstock was postponed due to a failed pitch inspection.
