Two local artists featured in sculpture exhibition

Two local artists will have their works on public display at The Bishop’s Palace Gardens, Wells, over the summer. 

‘Forms to Inspire’ runs until 24th September and features work by sculptors Colin Jacobs and Lynn Baxter, two neighbours from Great-Elm, as part of a group of 11 makers from the South West Sculptors Association. Colin’s work is carved in stone, whilst Lynn has a preference for steel outdoor works.

Lynn says, “We’re very happy that our sculptures will be viewed by the thousands of visitors drawn to this beautiful listed RHS Partner Garden, especially as it will be for the entire summer. Our work may already be known to Frome residents as we each opened our own studios as part of Frome Open Art Trail for the first-time last year.”

Lynn’s sculptures are also currently showing until 30th  July at another prestigious venue, in the historic Miserden Estate in Gloucestershire as part of the Cotswold Sculpture Association’s large-scale show, ‘Creating Spaces’.

Following the success of ‘Arthaus’ last year as part of Frome Open Art Trail, Lynn will again open her home from 8th to 16th July daily.  Her paintings, ceramics and sculpture in wood and metal can be seen both indoors and in the sculpture court.  Five artists will show textile art, photography, paintings, sculpture and ceramics in this sought-after venue.

Lynn’s collage entry for the front cover of Evolver, the arts and culture magazine, will also be  highlighted in the July/August edition as one of the ‘Top 50’ and exhibited at Yeovil Art Space from 15th July – 26th August.
