THE Merlin Theatre is looking for new people to join its team.
“This special venue, which hosts some of the finest professional live national touring theatre, dance and comedy, as well a local community shows and a menu of National Theatre Live screenings, has remained alive and busy with local audiences thanks in huge part to the work of a team of amazing volunteers,” said director Claudia Pepler,
“Almost 15 years ago, like much of Somerset, the theatre faced devastating arts funding cuts; thanks to the brilliance of a dedicated team of volunteers – including many who also saw the venue through the rough times of recovering from lockdown – the Merlin curtain has continued to rise year after year. Now, with a season of comedy, music, theatre and, of course, a Christmas production of ELF- The Musical, all to come, the Merlin would like you to consider joining their front of house team (FOH).
“It’s a very part-time but very important role with a fabulous team. I’m guessing it is one of the most fun volunteer roles around as you get to watch shows for free and eat tubs of ice-cream! Our audiences need to feel welcomed and, above all, safe so we are looking for mature-minded, capable FOH managers to help keep the show on the road
“This voluntary role includes overseeing stewards, opening /closing theatre, cashing-up and making sure all our lovely customers are happy!

The Merlin is a vibrant and popular 240-seat professional community venue, complete with its own outdoor amphitheatre for summer productions.
