Frome printer scoops Best Book Award

FROME printers Berforts Butler Tanner & Dennis (Berforts BT&D) has recently been awarded the prestigious Best British Book accolade at the British Book Design and Production Awards 2013.

The awards ceremony, held on 4th November at The Grange St Pauls Hotel in London, recognised the very best in British book production and design, with area categories ranging from digitally printed books to exhibition catalogues. The literary calendar’s flagship event was attended by leaders from across the book printing and publishing industry.

Berforts BT&D – the UK’s largest independent book printing company –  took home the coveted Best British Book award for Ian Lawson’s ‘From the Land Comes the Cloth’. The stunning 432 page book was printed on the Heidelberg 162 XL – the only press of its kind in Britain – that resides at the Berforts BT&D’s factory in Frome. The book is a unique collection of photographs set in the Scottish Outer Herbrides and features beautiful landscapes and the Harris Tweed weaver’s craft.

Author Ian Lawson said, “Venturing into the world of high-end self publishing was made all the easier by the guiding hands of my printers. Berforts BT&D has produced the book I aspired to. ‘From the Land Comes the Cloth’ has already travelled far and wide across the globe to wonderful appraise.
