A Frome designer has won third place in an international curtain design competition and travelled to Los Angeles for a glittering awards ceremony.
Kate Frost, a self-taught surface pattern designer, won joint third place in a global competition run by TwoPages, a Los Angeles-based curtain design company. She travelled to the city for the ceremony, where her designs as curtains and blinds were launched for sale.
She said, “I won joint third place from over 350 artists and 5,000 individually submitted designs. This moment has shown me that even large global brands are seeking deeper creative roots.
“They want to amplify real artists, real stories and work that honours connection, place and craft. I hope my experience might also encourage other artists and makers in our area, reminding us that heartfelt work still has power in the wider world.”
