Despite having to suspend the second half of his 500-mile trek around Wales due to injury, Frome walker Paul Parsons has already raised a whopping £1,800 for charity.
In the last issue, Frome Times reported on Paul’s fundraising mission which saw him set off in the footsteps of the 12th century bishop Gerald of Wales, retracing his trek around Wales in 1188.
Paul aimed to raise funds through the trek for Cancer Research UK, in memory of his Aunt Pat who died of cancer.
Unfortunately, as the Frome Times went to print Paul had been advised to suspend the second half of the trek due to an ankle injury he has picked up. After two weeks of walking, he had reached Cardigan – 230 miles from where he set off. But he has still managed to raise £1,800 in sponsorship money, all of which will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
Paul is hoping to finish the trek once he has recovered, and will be looking to reach his fundraising target of £2,000.
