LOCAL charity, Active and In Touch (A&IT) say that “Sadly, Lockdown 3 means Active and In Touch Tuesday group meetings cannot currently take place, nor can volunteers meet with members face-to -face inside, unless they are in the same support bubble.
“For A&IT, however, it is ‘business as usual +’ with numerous ways of keeping in contact to support the regular phone calls made to members. Thus letters and cards are written and sent, regular texting occurs, Face Time and Whats App is used, on-line games of chess and cards are taking place, volunteers on their daily exercise ensure their route passes their member’s home, so that they can give a friendly wave, also regular food deliveries and essential car journeys are being arranged.
“Alongside this, A&IT staff, trustees and volunteers are working behind the scenes to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Whilst national restrictions have already necessitated changes to events, dates and locations planning is still ongoing and will result in a variety of celebratory events during the course of the year.
“To celebrate and recognise February, A&IT’s focus is the raffling of a luxury Valentine hamper. This fantastic prize, includes a three-course bespoke dinner for two from Keren’s Comfort Kitchen, a bottle of champagne, a bottle of Rioja and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from The Cornerhouse, shortbread hearts and truffles from Jo at Mood Foods, hot chocolate melt from Cullen Bakes, chocolates from Choc On Choc and a tuberrose candle from True Grace, presented in a beautiful basket from Quirky Collectables.
“A&IT is very grateful to the amazing businesses in the community who have been so generous in their donation of such wonderful prizes. If you wish to take part in this raffle, please contact localgiving.org/ fundraising/valentinehamper/ and do keep a watchful eye for further exciting A&IT celebrations planned for 2021.
“With the addition of Shop for Me and Frome Community Drivers to the A&IT umbrella, there are now more than 200 volunteers supporting over 250 members. However, during Lockdown 3, Active and In Touch continues to welcome and support on average, three new members each week and so there is always the need for additional volunteers. Could one of these be you? If so, please contact Active and In Touch for more details via enquiries@ activeandintouch.org
