WINSTONE’S Hunting Raven is hosting Bex Band, adventure traveller and founder of the women’s adventure community Love Her Wild, for an event on Tuesday 31st August to celebrate the release of her book Three Stripes South.
Manager Tina Gaisford-Waller explains, “In 2016, desperate for a drastic change, Bex decided to walk the length of Israel with her husband: a 1,000km trek including a dangerous crossing through the vast Negev desert. She’d never done anything like it before and the experience changed her life, building back her confidence and self-esteem.
“Bex’s new book Three Stripes South tells the story of this transformative adventure – battling heat, exhaustion, self-doubt and prejudice – and the new life Bex built for herself when she got home, founding the Love Her Wild women’s adventure community.
“Prior to her epic journey, Bex suffered from low self-esteem and a belief that she wasn’t really capable of achieving much in life. Fast forward to today and Bex has transformed her life, tackling gender inequality in adventure travel, and championing women in the outdoors through regular talks, blogging and leading women on adventures all over the world. Nominated for multiple awards for her work advocating women in adventure, her story is an inspiration.
“If you already have a hunger for travel or are tempted to take those first intrepid steps, come and listen to Bex telling her story in her own words. There will be a Q&A after the event and Bex will be signing books. Better yet, the price of the ticket is redeemable against the price of the book on the night!
“The event will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 31st August (venue yet to be confirmed but definitely in Frome!). Tickets can be booked online at bit.ly/ThreeStripesFrome.
“Can’t make it to the event, but still want to be inspired? Copies of Bex’s brilliant book are available at Hunting Raven at £9.99 – and if you would like it signed and inscribed just let us know and that can be arranged: Winstonebooks3@gmail.com or 01373 473111.”
