A SPECIAL service for the Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held at Wesley Methodist Church on Friday 3rd March at 2.30pm.
This is held annually in over 170 countries and enables us to hear the voices of women from all parts of the world, their hopes, concerns and prayers.
This year the theme is ‘Am I Being Unfair to You?’, which has been prepared by the Christian women of the Philippines and the service has been translated into 1,000 different languages and dialects. The service starts at sunrise over the island of Samoa and continues until sunset off the coast of American Samoa.
In 2013 Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippine Islands, which is already a poor country in the Western Pacific Ocean. This is mentioned in the service and the difficulties, hopes and fears of the people are shared.
This service is regularly celebrated in Frome supported by the churches with ladies and some gentlemen taking part. You would be most welcome and there will be refreshments afterwards.
