The Good Heart is hosting three new courses from September alongside its usual busy schedule of groups and activities.
The courses include Writing for Wellbeing, Happiness Habits and Everyday Superpowers, as well as the continuation of its usual activities including Tiny Hearts, baby loss support group, Frome Grief Network, Dying Matters and a monthly men’s circle.
Writing for Wellbeing
This is a new six-week course starting on Monday afternoons for anyone who would like to try their hand at writing in a small and supportive group, led by Cambridge University tutor Derek Niemann. The course starts on Monday 15th September.
Happiness Habits
This is a secular, science-based course developed by the charity Action for Happiness to help people explore what matters most in life, connect more deeply with others, and take small steps toward greater wellbeing.
The course will take place over six Monday evenings from 29th September, led by Nicki Tanner and Sue Jeffreys.
Everyday Superpowers
On the evening of Thursday 20th November, Barbara J Hunt will lead a taster session for her five-week ‘Everyday Superpowers’ course which will be taking place in January and February.
Weekly activities
All of The Good Heart’s usual activities are still running, including Tiny Hearts, a free drop in that welcomes under-fives and their parents and carers from 9am to 11am every Monday and Thursday.
For teens, there is the Young People’s Wellbeing Drop-In from 3.30pm to 5pm on Thursdays and ‘Tea and Toasties’ from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on Tuesdays.
The Good Heart is also the home of the Frome Grief Network. Regular monthly meetups include a baby loss support group and Dying Matters, a gentle group for people experiencing bereavement of any kind.
On Sunday evenings there’s a monthly drop-in Men’s Circle and, if you are looking for some relaxation and peace of mind, there are Sunday morning meditation sessions from 10am to 12pm on 21st September, 19th October and 16th November, as well as weekday online meditations from 9am to 9.30am led by members of the Heartspace team.
All these activities are offered either free of charge or on a sliding scale, to make them as affordable and accessible as possible.
More information and booking details are available at www.thegoodheart.uk.
Alison said, “The Good Heart is hugely grateful to all the volunteers and partner organisations that make these activities possible and to Friends of Frome Hospital for their financial support.”
