The Beckington Scarecrow Trail, run by the Friends of Beckington School, is back for its third year, from Saturday 27th October – Sunday 4th November.
They say, “There will be plenty of opportunity to purchase your trail sheets from Beckington School on the Saturday. The school hall will be open from 10am – 12pm, so please join us for hot and cold drinks as well as cakes, to give you sustenance on your walk. You will also be able to pick up your trail sheets from the lovely people at Mes Amis or the Woolpack in Beckington any other time.
“Previous years’ themes have included Roald Dahl and classic children’s stories, and this year’s theme is Heroes and Villains of Children’s Books and Films.
“Trail sheets are a very reasonable £3 each and those identified correctly get entered into a prize draw. First prize is a £25 book token and second prize is a £15 book token. The trail will take you past a fabulous café and two pubs, as well as a children’s playground, so you could make it a real day of it.”
Friends of Beckington chairperson, Emma Burton said, “We are so pleased to hold another scarecrow trail, we would like to thank all of those involved, as well as thanks to those who come and complete the trail.
“This is a big charity fundraiser for the school and we hope that this year is bigger than ever. It’s a perfect opportunity to get out over the half-term for a couple of hours with friends and family, and we hope that you support this fantastic cause.
“We really hope we have the numbers turn out like last year, so even if you can’t make it yourself, make sure you spread the word that this event is on and people should come and give it a go.”
