HEALTH Connections Mendip will be holding a training afternoon this month for people interested in improving local people’s wellbeing.
The NHS-run organisation will be training community connectors, who help signpost people to useful services.
The session will run from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Monday 27th March at the Cheese and Grain. The training is free but must be booked by contacting Cheryl Stevens on 01373 468368 or mendip.health connections@nhs.net.
Community connector lead at Frome Medical Centre, Julie Carey-Downes says, “Living and feeling better starts with a simple step; connecting.
“There is so much going on in your community that can support you with health and well being, and many of these things are free or low cost, for example support groups, services run by local voluntary organisations, peer support groups and free exercise opportunities.
“Are you interested in finding out about what is available in your community? Would you be keen to pass this information on to people in your workplace, social group, friends, family and neighbours? Then become one of our community connectors! The more people there are that know about the support that is available in the community, the more we can all support each other.”
