First Bus has introduced new peak time and late night ‘express’ D2x bus services connecting Frome and Bath.
The new D2x bus travels directly along the A36 between Bath and Frome. At peak times, double decker buses provide the much-needed extra capacity on the route.
First bus has also introduced a new hourly Sunday D2 service; previously the Sunday D2 service was every two hours.
This new Sunday D2 service is in response to a big increase seen by First in the number of passengers now travelling by the D2 at weekends.
Peter Travis of Frome and Villages Bus User Group (FAVBUG) said, “More people are now travelling by bus between Bath and Frome. That’s because of the new cheap £2 single fares introduced earlier this year which have more than halved the cost of that bus journey. As a result, First is adding extra capacity and new weekend services. First also believes their new ‘express’ D2x service between Frome and Bath will encourage yet more people to switch to going by bus.
“The new late-night services will also be very good news for Frome’s entertainment and hospitality sectors as people will now be able to go for a night out in Frome, have a drink, knowing there’ll be late night buses to get them back home.
“Look out for the FAVBUG stall that will be in the Market Place over the coming weeks with copies of the new timetable – and the team there will be able assist with any bus questions.”
