FROME Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival will be back this year for its fourth instalment when it lands at the Cheese and Grain in May.
The annual one-day event, hosted by Solid Entertainments, has secured a ‘blistering’ lineup of talent old and new for the show on Sunday 8th May. This year’s bill includes Martin Turner (formerly of Wishbone Ash), Corky Laing (of Mountain), Albany Down, Red Butler, and the Luke Doherty Band.
Organiser John Brown said, “As this is our fourth year in Frome, we wanted to showcase the quality of live music in the UK and present a line-up with at least one legendary name, a mix of blistering new talent and a surprise or two. We think we have met this challenge; this will most definitely be a festival to remember and one not to miss!”
Martin Turner has been touring the world in recent years playing classic Wishbone Ash material, and he released a new solo album of his own last year, ‘Written in the Stars’.
Albany Down play energetic rock and roll mixed with rhythm & blues and jazz-funk. Red Butler, after winning the UK Blues Challenge in 2015, will represent the UK at the European Blues Challenge in Italy this year.
The young Welshman Luke Doherty and his band play pure Blues & Southern Rock, like ZZ Top meets country, Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The festival will run from 2pm to 10pm on Sunday 8th May at the Cheese and Grain. Advance tickets cost £24 each from 01472 349 222 or the festival website. To book tickets go to www.fromebluesfestival.co.uk
