FROME bookshop, Hunting Raven, is hosting an evening with local author Peter Clark to celebrate his new book, Emirates Diaries: From Sheikhs to Shakespeare, on Tuesday 3rd October.
Emirates Diaries tells the story of how Peter Clark came to love the Emirates and its people. He got to know Abu Dhabi sheikhs and Dubai merchants and people at every level of society.
The country was on the cusp of enormous economic expansion and this book is an affectionate picture of the Emirates when it was still like a chain of large informal villages.
Doors open at Hunting Raven bookshop at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Peter Clark’s book, Emirates Diaries: From Sheikhs to Shakespeare, costs £9.95.
Hunting Raven will also be taking part in ‘Come Together Again!’ at Frome Library on Sunday 8th October. There will be free afternoon tea, live music, crafts and activities for all. Authors Jane Brayne, Dave Hamilton, Gerry McKeown, Laurence McJannet and Angie Morgan will also be in attendance. The event runs from 1.30pm to 4pm.
