THERE’S plenty to see this week at the Memorial Theatre with appearances from larger-than-life actor, writer and presenter Brian Blessed and the UK’s top Pink Floyd tribute band.
An Evening with Brian Blessed. Friday 10th June @ 7:30 pm
Larger than life actor, writer and presenter Brian Blessed is known for his hearty, king-sized portray- also on film and television.
A giant of a man accompanied by an eloquent wit and booming, operatic voice, he is also an avid explorer and climber and ‘An Evening with Brian Blessed’ will combine anecdotes from his illustrious acting career with tales of his adventuring.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, there is no shortage of material. On screen, he has appeared in everything from Doctor Who to Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespeare films. On stage his credits range from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. And his trademark booming voice has also featured on everything from Peppa Pig character Grampy Rabbit to a voice download on TomTom’s sat nav system.
He is also an avid climber and will also be talking about his Everest climb without oxygen; his expedition to the jungles of Venezuela during which he survived a plane crash; his trek to the North Pole (he is the oldest man to go to the Pole on foot) and his many hours of space training in Russia!
The show is an experience that nobody should miss! His eloquence and humour will have the audience captured from the moment he walks on stage until the moment he leaves
His show may not be suitable for people of a nervous disposition or those who aren’t expecting the odd expletive!
All Floyd. Saturday 11th June @ 7:30 pm
All Floyd’s 2022 tour brings more of the classic Pink Floyd anthology to shows throughout the year all faithfully recreated in the meticulous detail now expected by All Floyd fans
Delivered with stunning visuals and world-class sound system, number after number is turned out immaculately, note-perfect complete with backing singers and that wonderful rich throbbing sound that Floyd fans will be familiar with. Messers Mason Gilmour, Waters, Wright & Barrett would have been proud to hear their music so faithfully rendered. Close your eyes and they could have been in the room They weren’t, but they could have been.
This is a show not to miss, a spectacular and honest display of Pink Floyd’s rich musical legacy featuring tracks from Meddle and the iconic Dark Side of the Moon through to The Division Bell.
“An unbeatable night’s entertainment, and one of the few Floyd tribute bands I’ve seen (and I’ve seen 6 in total) that play a track from Animals! Highly recommended to all.”
“A fabulous SHOW in every way, lights and video took me back to Knebworth and Earls Court years ago.”

![Town-wide programme brings month of social activities in May
A month-long programme of activities and events is set to take place across the town in May as part of an initiative encouraging residents to connect with themselves, each other and local places.
The scheme, Frome Connects, will run throughout the month and includes a mix of social activities, creative events and informal meet-ups in community spaces.
Highlights include the return of Dress Up Fridays, which began during lockdown and invites people to wear formal clothing or fancy dress and turn the town into their catwalk each Friday.
Set-piece moments include a Kate Bush-themed flashmob (Running Up That [Catherine] Hill) on 30th May, followed by a bell peal at St John’s Church where the bells will play Running Up That Hill.
There will also be a whole-town drone photo on Friday 30th May, with everyone encouraged to ‘look up’ at around 12.30pm.
