Members of Frome Bridge Club shared their skills at a public event at Frome Library on Saturday 5th September.
The ‘All About Bridge’ event gave visitors an insight into how the game is played and aimed to encourage a new generation of players.
Organisers said they were ‘delighted’ with the level of interest, with more than 10 people expressing an interest in joining the club’s beginners’ class starting in October.
Frome Bridge Club teacher John Perry said, “Our aim was to recruit people for our beginners’ class starting October and more than 10 people showed interest, so it was a very successful day. I’d like to thank all the club members who generously gave their time to support the event.”
The weekly sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings at Wesley Hall, BA11 1HA, starting on 6th October.
The 11 weeks of teaching, including play practice, will cost £50, with lessons continuing in the New Year at £3 per session. No previous card game experience is needed, with the sessions offering an opportunity to learn the game and meet new people.
Meanwhile, three Frome teams are taking part in this season’s Somerset Bridge County League.
Frome Fruit Bats have been promoted to the First Division, while Frome Tricksters and Frome Butterflies are in the Second Division.
The first round saw Fruit Bats beat Tricksters 15-5, while Butterflies lost 17-3 to Clevedon.
