A BUTCHER’s shop on Catherine Hill is closing its doors this month, due to high and rising energy costs that has made it difficult to remain open. However, they will be opening an online store, providing a delivery and click and collect service.
Penleigh Farm Traditional Butchers has announced it will be closing the shop on Saturday 25th February and instead will open an online store, giving customers the chance to order their meat via the website to have it delivered, or they can collect it from their farm in Dilton Marsh.
In a statement announcing the changes on their Facebook page Penleigh said, “Our new services include: offering great value, quality meat boxes, a local and national delivery service, as well as our all-new click and collect scheme. Click and collect will be available direct from Penleigh Farm at Dilton Marsh.
“We hope that these new services will encourage our regular customers to continue to use us, whilst also reaching out to a wider customer base nationwide. Our new services will combine the superb quality produce Penleigh Farm and Butchers is known for, with the ease of online shopping, making it simple in a busy, fast paced world.
“We will continue to deliver the very best produce and service as we move towards an online presence. It will be sad to be leaving The Hill and see another independent shop close its doors. We thank you for all your support over the years and look forward to your continued support as we move forward with our new online venture and delivery services.”
Hoping to continue with a physical presence in the town Penleigh said in the statement, “Our service will also be available at Boyle Cross in the Market Place, Frome, in the not-too-distant future.”
The closure of Penleigh Farm Traditional Butchers follows other places that have closed in the town centre in recent months due to the energy crisis, including the restaurant, Home.In.Frome, and the fish and chip shop, Barnacle Bills.
HSBC and NatWest, both based in the Market Place at the bottom, of Catherine Hill, are also due to close their branches this year due to the rise of online banking.
