THE second Frome Kindness Festival is taking place from Sunday 5th March to Saturday 11th March and organisers are asking people to take part in ‘The Kindness Challenge’.
Organisers say, “Frome will soon be celebrating the contribution that kindness makes to our relationships, to our mental and physical health and to our community. Co-ordinated by local non-profit group The Good Heart, the second Frome Kindness Festival aims to offer something for everyone, bringing the local community together in fun, magical and uplifting ways.”
New this year is the ‘The Kindness Challenge’ – an opportunity, for one week, to try making our small market town the kindest place on the planet. The organisers are asking everyone who lives in Frome to commit to carrying out an act of kindness during the week of the festival: either by themselves or with a group of family, friends or colleagues. The only criteria for your challenge is that it is KIND:
Kind: Something that’s caring, thoughtful and brings a smile.
Imaginative: Be creative and have fun.
New: Stretch yourself and do something special!
Down to Earth: responding to genuine need
“From looking after the wildlife in your garden to looking after yourself, taking out the bins to taking out your gran, giving compliments to giving blood, there are countless ways to take part,” said Jess Francombe from the festival team.
“If you’re looking for ideas, big or small, take a look at our festival website www.fromekindnessfestival.com, alternatively, you can join in with one of the scheduled Kindness Challenge activities happening every day of the festival, which will be totally free and open to all.”
Participants will be invited to share their proposed and completed challenges by uploading them to the Kindness Festival website, tagging the festival’s Instagram or Facebook account, or adding them to the beautiful window display at Frome Library. There will also be an opportunity to get together and celebrate on the final day of the festival at the Kindness Challenge wrap party.
The full Kindness Festival events programme will be released isoon. Expect seven days of creative acts of kindness and appreciation, self-care sessions, live art, crafting, music, book signings and a very special ‘Caravan of Kindness’, running alongside evening events such as lectures, film screenings and performance.
