A pop-up fair is coming to Frome this month to celebrate all things cats and literature.
The Big Cat-Lit Fair will be held in the Assembly Rooms on Saturday 31st May, featuring local authors, writing clubs and independent craft and gift vendors.
The fair is being organised by a local woman who hopes to open a cat cafe in the heart of Frome, called Puss In Books.
Scarlett, who is behind the cafe project, said, “The fair will be a great opportunity for the community to find out more about Puss In Books, while also meeting others who share a love of cats, books and creativity. It should be a really fun day out.”
Local author Zoe Langley-Wathen will be attending to promote her book 630 Miles Braver, and The Frome Writing Collective will have their own table, hoping to bring along at least one of their published authors too.
There will be a range of cat-themed craft products for sale, including artwork, homemade trinkets, bookmarks, stationery, and independently designed and bound notebooks for journalling. Cat-themed hair accessories and other gifts will also be available, with many of the vendors running their own Etsy stores.
Children can join in activities with The Magic Quill Writing Club, who will be offering cat-focused creative writing sessions throughout the day.
Refreshments will also be available, including tea, coffee and a range of cakes, with gluten-free and vegan options on offer.
The fair is free to attend and will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
