The London Syrian Ensemble is visiting Frome for an afternoon workshop and evening concert of Syrian music on Sunday 27th January.
‘Out of the detritus of war, a thing of beauty was born.’
The group is a collective of some of Syria’s finest musicians based in the UK. They are a group of both newly-arrived and long-term residents who either studied or taught in the eminent Damascus Conservatoire. They bring the sounds of Syria, offering a joyous performance of classical and traditional music from the region; one that’s full of energy, beauty and humanity, and one that offers a positive and optimistic opportunity to celebrate Syrian culture.
Tickets are available from the Cheese and Grain at £15 in advance/£17.50 on door/£6 under 18s (plus service charges).
A Syrian supper is also being served by local families from 5.30pm-6.30pm at £6 per person, tickets through the Cheese & Grain.
This event is being hosted by the charity Young People Frome; for further information or interest in the afternoon workshop please email azeema@ fromeactive.org.uk
