LOCAL cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY), is holding a charity gig night at the Tree House on Friday 17th February.
The event involves sets from bands including Dogs Play Dead, a trio of professional musicians playing songs by the America Rock Band, The Grateful Dead. The musicians are Ethan Jones, producer and musician who has worked with McCartney, Tom Jones and Kings of Leon; Dave Smith who has worked with Fofoulah, Robert Plant – Shapeshifter; and Nick Pini who has worked with Tom Chaplin, Tom Jones and Laura Marling.
Organisers said, “The music will be varied with fantastic versions of tunes that in their day were explorative, ground-breaking and which delved into many genres from folk, jazz to psychedelia. To be enjoyed by the music connoisseurs and music-loving public in general!”
The Lost Trades, a vocal harmony trio, will also perform modern folk songs with stringed instruments, percussion and vocal harmonies. Six-piece West Country rock band with Irish influence and a fiddle player, Billy in the Lowground, is also on the line-up and will be performing original songs written by Chris Hibberd.
Organisers said, “Thanks to musician Nick Clinch for organising this amazing night of live music in aid of WHY and a total bargain at £15 a ticket. All in all, a night not to be missed!”
The event will run from 8pm to 11.59pm. Tickets can be purchased via this website, register.enthuse .com/ps/event/MusicthatsWHY
