Join Ruth McKibbin (soprano) and Peter French (piano) on their musical journey, Tell me the truth about love, on Saturday 27th October at 1.05pm in Christ Church, Frome.
This lunchtime concert is in aid of the National Osteoporosis Society, the only UK-wide charity dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, based in Camerton, Somerset.
The programme includes songs by Britten, Gluck, Rogers & Hammerstein, Schubert, Carissimi, Porter, Puccini, Sondheim, Lloyd- Webber, Strauss, Bernstein and Elgar. Entry is by donation and the bar opens at 12.30pm.
Since making Somerset her home in 2006, Australian soprano Ruth McKibbin has toured internationally as concert soloist to Hungary, France, Germany and Canada with Bath Choral Society and The Silver Ring Choir of Bath.
Ruth’s operatic roles include Paquette, Serpina, Alice Ford, Mimi, Nella, Susanna, Mlle Silberklang, Peep-Bo, Floria Tosca. Adolpho Pirelli, Princess Ida and The Witch (Into the Woods). She is co-founder of Stentorphon Opera and has collaborated with international musicians, Baka Beyond and Jamie Cullum. Ruth is musical director of Bath-based, CitySound Voices.
Pianist, Peter French, has been involved in musical theatre groups in the North Wilts area for the past 15 years, especially CLOGS (Chippenham) and CAOS (Colerne). He has been MD for several shows in that time, including ‘The Merry Widow’, ‘South Pacific’, ‘Annie’, ‘Guys & Dolls’ and ‘The Producers’ for CLOGS, ‘Oklahoma!’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘The Pajama Game’ for CAOS, as well as a Schools Les Mis for TAOS in Trowbridge.
As well as being the accompanist for CitySound Voices, he plays for the Harmonics choir in Kington Langley and the annual Box Panto, as well as being the keyboard player in a functions band called Thumbline.
