ORGANISERS of the local Farmers’ Markets are looking forward to their Christmas market, to be held outdoors at the Cheese & Grain, on 12th and 20th December.
They say, “When we re-opened the farmers market after the first lockdown in July, it seemed a novelty to be on the patio in the sunshine for a month or so until the building re-opened!
“Little did we know we were in for the long-haul, summer and autumn are now long gone and this month our two festive markets on Saturday 12th and Sunday 20th of December also be alfresco affairs. However, in reality most of the Somerset Farmers Market events take place outdoors all year round, so our farmers and food producing members are well used to braving the elements.
“The market itself boasts a huge array of award-winning local produce including organic beef, free range poultry and pork, spring-fed trout, locally-grown vegetables, honey and the best of Somersets cheesemakers including Whitelake Farm and Wootton Organic Dairy plus ciders, preserves and willow wreaths.
“We will also be proudly launching our new branding in December with our new banners, signage and leaflets in distinct colours and reflecting the range of food production in the area. This has been made possible with the support of local law firm Thatcher + Hallam who support the Frome, Midsomer Norton and Keynsham farmers’ markets.
“If you would like to sign up for a monthly e-newsletter reminding you of when the market will take place and who will be there, please visit our website and sign up www.somersetfarmersmarkets.co.uk
“May we also wish you a happy, healthy and well-fed festive period and then come January 9th we’ll see you all again as local food is not just for Christmas!”
