A conference exploring how climate action can support healthier communities was held at Wesley Methodist Church, organised by Green and Healthy Frome.
The event brought together organisations, practitioners and commu-nity groups for a day that looked at how local work on climate, wellbeing and community development connects. Organisers said the gathering aimed to show what can happen when environmental and social needs are considered together.
A member of the Green and Healthy Frome team Annabel Crooke said, “Attendees were thanked for ‘showing up both literally and figuratively’ and for bringing curiosity, honesty and renewed energy to the challenges and opportunities of our time.
“Rather than a tradi-tional conference format, the event created a moment of rare alignment. Participants could experience and see the wider pattern of this five-year programme: the lived experience, community practice, evidence gather-ing, impact, creative expression and future-facing innovation that have evolved across the partnership.
Workshops, discussions and informal conversations were described as moments that sparked new ideas and potential collaborations. “Speakers and delegates helped each other rediscover the central purpose of the Green and Healthy Frome programme,” said Annabel. “Insights were shared that are often hard to see from inside project delivery.”
Thanks were given to the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund for its continued support.
The conference closed with a performance by Hot Poet Chris Redmond.
Delegates can now read his final poem and the improvised piece built from words generated in the room on the website www.greenhealthyfrome.org/read
