SOMERSET and Wiltshire based Auctioneers and Estate Agents Cooper and Tanner have announced a change of managing director.
The current managing director Quintyn Howard-Evans stepped down from the role on 4th March and has handed the baton over to fellow director Nick Oliver. Quintyn left the firm to follow other interests.
Quintyn originally joined Cooper and Tanner in 1989 as a junior negotiator, working his way up through to managing director over the intervening years. In that time Cooper and Tanner have grown from just three branches to 11 branches over Somerset and Wiltshire. They are now the area’s largest and independent multi discipline agent in the region that they cover, with all aspects of agency dealt with in house.
Quintyn said, “Whilst I am sad to be leaving, it is time for someone else to take the reins. Cooper and Tanner have given me a wonderful work life for over 30 years and I believe that this firm – and indeed this industry – offers anyone the opportunity to achieve great things if they want to.
“The world has changed enormously in my time here; we have for example moved from photocopied details with photos stuck on to an entirely digital output. However, some things remain important – honesty, integrity and actually caring about what you do still carry huge currency in the word of estate agency and auctioneering. I am certain that the firm will continue to grow and go from strength to strength under Nick’s leadership.”
Nick Oliver joined in 1989, shortly becoming a director of Cooper and Tanner Nationwide. He was involved in the company buy back, following which a partner in Cooper and Tanner, later a director when the firm became a company.
Throughout his working career he has and continues to be involved in all aspects of rural practice, although has given up being a livestock auctioneer after a number of years selling at both Frome and Glastonbury markets. Over recent years, he has assisted Quintyn in the overall management of the business and is now looking forward to taking on this new role, continuing the development and expansion of the company.
Cooper and Tanner have 11 offices covering Somerset and Wiltshire and are livestock, machinery, antique, gold and silver and property auctioneers. They provide extensive coverage for property sales and lettings and they also have bespoke development and commercial departments to complement their wider range of agricultural and property professionals.
