THE Cross Keys Inn in Corsley celebrated its first anniversary since becoming a community free house earlier this month.
Last year a limited company was formed by the community to purchase the pub from the brewery. Money was raised by investors buying shares in the limited company.
The day was marked with the unveiling of a new pub sign which was designed by local man Roy Pearce, fondly known as Ped in the community.
At the event Ped said, “I am delighted that this lovely pub has been saved from closing and wish the newly appointed managers, Sara and Rob, every success for many years to come.
“I was very honoured to have been asked to do the pub sign and immensely enjoyed producing it.”
Managers Sara and Rob Burton have been thrilled with the support they have been given both in the village and by customers from the surrounding areas. The pair say that they are determined to do all that they can to ensure the continued success of this village pub.
During the celebration a raffle was held raising £131 in aid of a public access defibrillator, which will hopefully be installed at the pub in the near future.
