A well-respected local charity that has quietly helped thousands of people across Frome and beyond is celebrating over four decades of supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Wessex Counselling & Psychotherapy, based at No. 5 King Street in the heart of Frome, has been offering affordable, accessible and professional counselling services in Frome and the wider region since 1983.
Alongside their therapeutic work, Wessex runs a thriving training programme offering opportunities for personal development and professional qualification. Courses range from a popular 10-week online Counselling Skills Course to a Foundation Certificate, and a highly regarded BACP/BPC-accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
“Our staff are highly experienced practitioners and trainers and offer a rich and challenging learning experience in a safe, supportive environment,” said training co-ordinator Jane Bennett. “Developing our counselling & listening skills can help us enhance our communication and relationships as well as gain a greater understanding of ourselves. Trainees may come with an interest for personal development, furthering skills to use in their work or looking for a change in career.”
Post-graduates can go on to specialise further, including gaining a certificate in counselling children and young people, or qualifying as twice-weekly psychodynamic psychotherapists.
The Frome-based training centre is easily accessible by car, bus and train, with full disabled access and a hearing loop in place.
Applications are now open for courses starting in September. To find out more, the team is hosting an informal coffee morning at their King Street premises on Tuesday 29th April, where prospective students can meet tutors and learn more about the programmes on offer.
