A group of dads in Frome have raised over £2,000 for Mind in Somerset during a family fun day held last month.
For Dads Sake, a group providing a network and support for local dads, raised the funds at their family fun day, Mind the Dad, at the Archangel pub.
The event featured face painting, live music, pottery painting, soft play, a lucky dip and a raffle. All proceeds were donated to Mind in Somerset, a mental health charity which ensures that anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for help and advice.
One of the organisers and founders of For Dads Sake, Wayne, said, “It was a fantastic event and the pub was buzzing. Thank you to everyone who came and donated a prize for the raffle.”
Raffle prizes included a night’s stay at the Archangel pub, a Warhammer set worth over £100 from Deck and Dagger, and various vouchers from local businesses including Palette and Pasture, Frome Bolder Rooms and PureGym.
For Dads Sake launched earlier this year, founded by four local dads – Max, Wayne, Alex and Ben – and runs regular meet-ups where local dads can talk, share advice and form friendships and connections with others who may have shared experiences.
Wayne added, “Whilst as a group we are aimed at dads, we ensure there is time for children to be part of it with the coffee mornings we host once a month. The family fun day for Mind in Somerset provided an opportunity for everyone to spend time together as a family – for dads, mums and kids to get to know each other.”
The group plans to continue fundraising and has a sponsored walk in the pipeline.
