A DISCO fun run to raise money for cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) will take place on Thursday 12th March.
The event is organised by local mother and son duo Rose Hiron-Grimes and Keinan Cooper, who are running the London Marathon this year for WHY.
Participants will meet at The Crown Inn at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The 5km flat route will see local DJ collective BassBeatz turn the streets of Keyford into a moving dance floor. DJ Lloydy will lead the run on his custom-built music bike, providing a disco soundtrack to dance, run, wheel, or walk along the route. There is a suggested donation of £10, which includes glow-in-the-dark accessories.
Rose and Keinan have both seen friends benefit from WHY’s professional counselling and have experienced the impact of cancer bereavements themselves. Earlier this year, WHY launched an urgent fundraising appeal to raise £55,000 by the end of March to avoid closure.
Rose said, “We know firsthand how much WHY’s counselling means to people in their darkest moments. Losing loved ones to cancer is incredibly hard but having local support makes a world of difference. We wanted to create an event that captures the spirit of Frome: something inclusive, high-energy, and full of community heart, to make sure these services stay available for everyone who needs them.”
No pre-booking is required. Supporters are encouraged to arrive ready to “Run to the Rhythm” and show their support for a charity that has helped so many.
