HOLES in your jumper? Broken fastener on your favourite bit of clothing? Things lying in your cupboard waiting for that mend? A group of organisations in Frome have come together to look at solving the problem of the huge amount of textile waste that we create every year, by starting a clothes repair session.
Edventure Frome’s Future Shed, Share ‘How To’ and the Everyone Needs Pockets Reuse Network, have joined up to try out a new monthly clothing repair workshop at the Share shop, with the first one on Saturday 28th January between 11.30am and 1.30pm.
Everyone Needs Pockets Clothing and Textile Reuse Network is a growing group of over 50 stitchers, makers and designers that have formed over the last year with the support of Edventure’s Future Shed and the Lottery funded Green & Healthy Frome programme.
A spokesperson said, “Come and mend your clothes with help from the talented volunteer stitchers and darners who will help you with your repair, showing you what to do and helping you with the mend. We’re planning on running these sessions on the last Saturday of the month through 2023.
“Book into the session so we know what you want to fix, then enjoy a relaxed social, mending your clothes with free drinks and biscuits to help! These sessions are designed for all abilities and many different kinds of repairs. We can help with buttons, fasteners, zips, taking up hems, visible mending and darning your jumpers.”
