Drop-in business clinics show entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Frome

NEARLY 40 budding businesspeople have been helped by a trio of drop-in advice sessions organised by Frome Chamber of Commerce.

The Discuss and Do advice clinics, part of Mendip District Council’s Enterprise Mendip scheme, have run for the first three months of 2014 offering free business support to people wanting to start up their own business in the town.

Chamber of Commerce president Nigel Harris of Burton Sweet Accountants said. “It’s been very inspiring to hear the ideas that people have brought to these drop-in clinics. There really are some great businesses being planned by Frome people.

“I also have to thank the mentors who donated their time and expertise for free to offer help and advice on a whole range of issues to the people who came along. Without their input we couldn’t have run these sessions.

“We had funding to run these sessions from Mendip District Council as part of its Enterprise Mendip scheme which aims to help more people start their own business in Mendip. We hope we’ve played our part in helping to make Frome a thriving place to do business with these sessions and we’ve certainly been impressed by the number of people who have ideas to be their own boss. It just goes to show that the entrepreneurial spirit is certainly alive and well in Frome which I think bodes well for the town.”
