Drum it Up, a not-for-profit organisation in Frome has announced the return of the monthly community Drum Circle starting on November 13th at Christchurch Hall, 2.30 – 4pm.
The session is for all ages and abilities and is a fully inclusive event whatever your needs are. All equipment will be provided including drums and percussion instruments of all shapes and sizes. No experience needed and everyone.
Tanya Sherriff, who runs the organisation said, “Drum circles are a great way to bring people together through the joy, laughter and energy that creating rhythm in a group brings. Drum circles are not about teaching rhythms, they are about bringing people together through rhythm, making up your own unique sound as a group and learning to listen to each other and play together collaboratively. Through trained facilitation you will be guided by signals to shape and sculpt the rhythm you weave.”
No booking is necessary. The drum circle will be run by both Tanya Sherriff and Katie Harris. £5 per adult and £1 for children. Drum It Up is pleased to offer a term time only weekly Intuitive Drumming session beginning on Thursdays 24th November 1.30 – 3pm.
Tanya said, “The aim is to learn some African poly rhythms and techniques so you feel confident around a drum. Then we will create an ‘in the moment sound scape’ using drum circle methods and feeling into what you want to add to the groove. We may do a bit of singing, some laughing and you will feel energised and joyful at the end.”
No experience needed. Cost is £7 a session (concessions available).
