The Merlin Theatre, Frome, has two dynamic dance events coming up in September. The first is a Flamenco workshop with Mi Flamenco on Saturday 16th September at 2pm.
Ester Tal is an experienced teacher and the lead female dancer in Mi Flamenco. Her experience and enthusiasm for this passionate art form brings flamenco alive in this special workshop. Fun, passion and pulsating rhythms for absolutely everyone – no experience is necessary.
Guitar accompaniment to the workshop is by the company’s musical director and guitarist, Uri Tal. In the break, you will get a chance to chat with Ester over coffee and find out even more about this fascinating art form.
Only equipment needed is: Women: a longish flared skirt and a solid heeled shoe or boot Men: comfortable trousers and a shoe with a bit of a heel if possible.
Guided age is a minimum age of 12 (accompanied by a participating adult) 16 years and over (unaccompanied) with absolutely no upper age limit. This workshop complements the full show due to be performed on Wednesday 4th October at 7.45pm.
The second show lightens the mood as award-winning comedic dance theatre company, The Hiccup Project, presents May-We-Go-Round? on Saturday 23rd September at 7.45pm. The two female performers take their audiences on a bitter-sweet journey on the merry-go-round of romance.
Honest, provocative and laugh-out-loud funny, it celebrates love and lust in all their messy and confusing forms. Ultimately, it’s a show about friendship, the bond between these two women radiating an enthralling, endearing portrait of girl power. Described as ‘so euphoric and so infectious…. It’s like Smack the Pony meets Jasmin Vardimon’ by Fest magazine this promises to be a comical, entertaining night out! Tickets cost £12.50 (£10.50)
All tickets can be bought on line www.merlintheatre .co.uk or call the box office on 01373 465949 (Workshop must be booked over the phone).
