Easter is traditionally a time of overindulgence.
But for those runners looking to burn off the chocolate eggs and add to their medal collection, there were more than enough running opportunities over the Easter weekend.
The Hanham Horror race held on 27th March at Hanham, near Bristol, was perhaps the most gruelling of these. Covering a distance of six miles through undulating, multi-terrain countryside, this challenging course included muddy water, steep hills and more than one hundred steps, all topped off with steep rope climb finish.
Representing Frome Running Club were Martin Taylor and Roger Deverbuk, posting times of 50:19 and 59:56 respectively.
The challenges continued into Easter Monday with the Easter Bunny 10K race in Yeovil. This flat road race took in the picturesque villages of West Camel and Podimore, offering the ideal opportunity for personal bests.
Flying the flag for Frome were Nick Cooper (MV50), who posted an impressive time of 42:51, followed by Anne Porter (FV55) at 58:04 and Judith Cooper (FV45) with a time of 01:09:16.
The following weekend offered another opportunity for members to race in stunning surroundings, this time at the Bath Beat. Starting on the south-eastern edge of Bath, the course takes runners out into picturesque countryside, through the woods, hills and river valleys of the southerly edge of The Cotswolds.
Although individual times are not issued for participants, a number of runners from Frome RC took part, including Paddy Mead, Fran Hunter, Richard Corp and Steve Carroll.
Frome Running Club offers both on and off-road training and welcomes new members, whatever the ability. For more details, visit fromerunningclub.org.uk.
