FROME athlete Emily Diamond is in Tokyo hoping to add to her Olympic bronze medal from the Rio Games.
Emily – who is a World, European and Commonwealth medallist – will be hoping to repeat the success of the 2016 Rio Olympics, when she won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay. This will be Emily’s third Olympic Games after having been selected to compete for Team GB in the 4x400m relay.
Prior to her departure for Japan last week, Emily said, “I am so excited to say that I have been selected for my third Olympic Games. This season has been an emotional rollercoaster, but I can’t wait to head out to Tokyo with Team GB.”
Since the 2016 Games, Emily has claimed a World Championship silver in London in 2017 and her second European bronze in 2018 – both in the relay events – and also has a Commonwealth relay bronze under her belt.
The Olympic Games’ opening ceremony is this Friday, 23rd July.
