An entertainment group is searching for local charities who would benefit from donations raised at their upcoming shows.
The Woodlanders are a group of local entertainers who have raised funds for hundreds of local charities.
Their shows run at East Woodlands Village Hall and they have already begun rehearsals for their next performance, taking place from Monday 6th October to Saturday 11th October.
As part of this, the group is calling for local charities to get in touch and submit a request to be considered for a donation. Last year, the group raised enough funds to donate £250 to several local charities, including SODA, Dorothy House, Frome Community Transport, Frome Mencap, Wessex Counselling service, Active and in Touch, Open Storytellers, The Pod and Kingdown School in Warminster.
Treasurer of the group, Sandra Gaisford, said, “We know that many very small charities run on a shoestring and this kind of donation can sometimes mean the difference between being able to continue their work or having to close. Charities who have received financial support from The Woodlanders in the past are welcome to apply again.”
The Woodlanders recently took to the streets during the Frome Festival Independent Market, singing sea shanties which will be included in the show in the autumn.
