A host of Internationally acclaimed artists have made Frome and its surrounds their home, making this part of the Southwest a hotspot for professional artists. To celebrate their fourth birthday Mount Art Services is bringing a selection of these artists together for a one-weekend-only exhibition; one of the few occasions where such an illustrious company of artists are shown side-by-side.
Frome-based painter and photographer Christopher Bucklow recently had a retrospective at Southampton City Art Gallery and is currently compiling a book about Francis Bacon, due out in May. Canadian-born Mark Karasick has a large artwork in a forthcoming exhibition in Helsinki. Professor Anita Taylor is the Dean of Bath School of Art & Design, a founding director of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and the founder of Drawing Projects art centre in Trowbridge. Photographer Seamus Nicolson has work in many public collections, including the Tate and the Government art collection. We have two RWA academicians in Frome, Nicky Knowles and Leslie Glenn Damhus, as well as a whole host of professional artists who exhibit all over the country.
To The Fore, Mount’s fourth birthday celebration exhibition takes place in the studio above Mount’s at the Silk Mill on the weekend of 6-7th April from 10am-3pm. All are welcome to attend the preview event on Fri 5th 6-8pm. There will be work by most of the artists mentioned above, as well as others from Frome and further afield.
