The River House café in Frome will be opening weekend evenings from Friday 8th May, serving up cocktails, craft beers, ciders and wines.
The already licensed River House café, situated on The Bridge in Frome’s town centre, has been offering a range of craft beers and ciders plus alcoholic hot drinks to its customers during café hours throughout the winter. Starting this spring it plans to open on Friday and Saturday evenings, giving the town centre a new drinking hole for those with a taste for premium drinks.
Originally from a bar background, owner Ellen Porteous is excited about the new evening opening hours. She said, “I’ve been slowly putting together our beer, wine and spirit range since opening and am now keen to put it out to the public on weekend evenings. We’ve over 20 craft beers and ciders from around the world on our menu plus a premium selection of spirits, perfect for mixing our new cocktail menu.”
Having worked in numerous cocktail bars and real ale establishments as well as managing pubs and bars, Ellen is keen to bring a more diverse menu of drinks to Frome and encourage people to try something a bit out of their comfort zone.
She added, “Alcohol, like food, should be made to enjoy socially, for pleasure – not to binge on in an anti-social way. I hope that the selection of quirky drinks we’re offering will stir up conversation and get people enjoying alcohol for the right reasons.
“Every drink we serve has been tried and tested by The River House team and given a big seal of (perhaps a little tipsy) approval.”
The River House will also continue to serve up its soft drinks menu and coffees into the evening, for non-drinkers.
The bar will be open on Friday and Saturday nights until 11.00pm from Friday 8th May. Under 18 year olds admitted until 9.00pm accompanied by an adult. For more information visit facebook.com/theriverhousefrome
