FROME Town Women have continued their fine form with a convincing one-nil win over Stockwood Wanderers, which has solidified their position at the top of the table.
A superb left-footed strike from Thorner-Atkinson secured the result in front of another strong crowd at the Hill. The result is the fifth consecutive win for the team, in league and cup, coming after wins over Middlezoy Ladies, Paulton Rovers Ladies, Weston-Super-Mare Ladies and AEK Boco Ladies.
The win strengthens Frome’s position at the top of the South West Region Women’s League Eastern Division, where they currently have a four-point lead.
Team manager, Ben Bolland, paid tribute to the home support the team has received this season, which he says has been huge for the team.
“We’ve had some fantastic crowds here at the Hill, for each of our home games,” he said. “People have been coming in record numbers to watch the team and have given us such fantastic support, which is massive for the team. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us here, and on social media.”
The team now face a strong Pucklechurch Ladies side, at home on Sunday 11th December before heading into the Christmas break.
