Crowds gathered in the town centre on Saturday 14th February for the inaugural Frome Pancake Dash.
From midday, there were crêpes, coffee and cake around the Boyle Cross, plus a raffle by Frome Skatepark Project, a Valentine-themed photo frame, face painting, crafts and free samples of Bonne Maman jam and chocolate spread.
From 1pm to 3pm, 132 people took part in pancake dash ‘waves’, heading from the Blue Boar up to the Boyle Cross while flipping fabric pancakes created by the Frome Shed in heart-shaped frying pans, watched by around 1,000 spectators.

Mayor of Frome Anita Collier said, “What a wonderful event, even the weather behaved itself.
“It wasn’t just a welcome break from the rain, it was a chance for the community to come together to do something silly and joyful to mark Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day, support the skatepark project and enjoy time outside in some long-awaited sunshine.
“Thank you so much to the Frome Shed for making the lovely fabric pancakes, Frome Running Club for making the dashes run so smoothly, Frome Carnival Committee for all their help with the roads, The Blue House for hosting us and serving refreshments, our brilliant compère Cheryl Sprinkler, Rose and Perry for the crafts and Posh Crêpes and The Treat Hub for the treats. And of course, to Bonne Maman for supporting the event, the free jam and providing the lovely raffle prizes.”
