There’s just over a month left to grab your tickets for Frome Musical Theatre Company’s production of Sister Act so book now to avoid disappointment!
The show will be performed from Tuesday 10th – Saturday 14th May at the Memorial Theatre, and is another show stopper sure to have audiences up on their feet and clapping to the beat as they enjoy big voices, even bigger dance numbers and sensational music inspired by the Motown, soul and disco of the 70’s.
The cast warmly welcome back director and choreographer Martyn Knight having previously worked together to produce Beauty & the Beast in 2012 and Hello Dolly in 2014. The award winning company are having enormous fun with Martyn at rehearsals and can’t wait to perform their groovy numbers ‘Fabulous Baby’, ‘Take Me To Heaven’ and ‘Spread the Love’.
Treading the Memorial Theatre boards for the first time is Scott Ward who plays Spanish gangster Pablo. Scott has been performing in shows since he was 10 and has most recently performed as Nicky in Avenue Q with a number of Sister Act cast members. He plays alongside Oli Wareham, Kevin Withers and Jon O ‘Loughlin – familiar faces to the Memorial Theatre stage.
This is Jon’s fourth show with FMTC, he most notably played Edna Turnblad in the hugely successful production of Hairspray last year. Kevin has played several leading roles, most notably as Dave in The Full Monty, Oliver Warbucks in Annie and Joe’s dad in Our House.
Oli’s highlights include Chip in Beauty & the Beast, Friedrich in The Sound of Music and many principal roles in FMTC’s youth section Spellbound. He was recently in Sleeping Beauty as one half of the comedy duo Fetch & Carry!
The stooges have some fantastic numbers in Sister Act and will smoothly serenade audiences with their soulful tones.
Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent!
Cleverly disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of the Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own. A charming tribute to the all embracing power of friendship, sisterhood and music.
