Frome’s food lovers are invited to Cheese for Change, a fundraiser in support of the Community Fridge.
Hosted by Terri Pitts, attendees can enjoy a curated selection of artisan cheeses, chutneys and crackers, paired with local ciders graciously donated by Somerset producers such as Moons Cider and White Lake Cheese.
One of the organisers, James Wallis, said, “The hosts will introduce each cheese – its origins, flavours and the ideal cider match – while keeping the mood light with a few well-timed jokes.”
Why ‘Change’?
While supermarket surplus donations have long underpinned community food redistribution, the Community Fridge wants to take a fresh approach and partner directly with local farms to stock fresh surplus produce.
James said, “Not only to offer the Fridge’s community healthier, less processed options, but also to cut down on food miles and reduce waste at the source.
“Gather friends and family, or mix and mingle with fellow food enthusiasts on the communal tables for eight.
“It’s going to be an evening of fun and food, ending in a raffle for more cheese. So, sync your diaries, book that babysitter and get booking for Cheese and Change on Saturday 14th June, from 6pm to 9pm at Rook Lane Chapel.
“Every ticket sold helps the Community Fridge Frome work towards making Frome a waste-free town for years to come.
“Book now for an evening of cheese, cider and community spirit – spaces are limited.
“Please book your ticket in advance so we can save you a seat.
“We’d love to see you there,” said James.
