THE Friends of Frome Hospital have arranged another public CPR/ Defibrillator Training Session to be held at the Cheese & Grain on Saturday 5th November.
The latest publicly available defibrillator (PAD) has recently been commissioned at the Frome Livestock Market, and is the 21st PAD unit in the Friends of Frome Hospital community-wide network of defibrillators.
Derek Trick, project leader for the defibrillator programme says, “This is an early call for people to note the date for their diaries, and hopefully for them to take time out to make themselves aware of what to do if they are confronted with someone in a cardiac arrest situation.
“Two 45 minute free training sessions are planned for the morning at 9.45am and 11.15am.
“In several previous training sessions we have been able to make 500+ Frome people aware of how to react in a cardiac trauma situation, and how to access and operate the sophisticated talking PAD units which are specifically designed to be used by people with little or no medical knowledge.
“Recently one of our defibrillators was used by members of the public who successfully resuscitated a and saved the life of a lady who had collapsed in the Westway Shopping Precinct.”
