AN exhibition, ‘Back to Blue’, the history of Frome’s cloth and dye trades, has been organised by Carolyn Griffiths at the Round Tower on Justice Lane, will run from Saturday 23rd June to Sunday 15th July.
The iconic 18th century wool drying building, the Round Tower, will showcase the history of the cloth and dye trade in Frome. A preview evening of the event will be held on Friday 22nd June from 6pm-8pm.
The exhibition will feature work by mixed media artists Hans Borgonjon, Sue Conrad, Hayley Trezise, Real Good Yarns and others, to provide a contemporary twist that ebbs and flows between the past and the present.
The event will also stage children’s workshops for age 7+, on Saturday 23rd June and Saturday 30th June, giving youngsters a taste of weaving and making natural dyes from food waste.
To book visit: www.blackswanarts.org.uk/whatson/events. There is a small fee for the children’s workshops but entry to exhibition is free. The event has been sponsored by grants from Black Swan Arts, Frome Society for Local Study and Frome Town Council.
