Frome Children’s Festival will be held this Sunday, 8th July, in Victoria Park and Mary Baily field, from 12noon to 6pm.
One of the organisers, Lenka Grimes says, “We are so excited to be offering over 40 activities that are for children, young people and families to enjoy. We have sports ranging from powerchair football to archery, to hockey to an accessible climbing wall, graffiti workshops, forest school, crafts ranging from puppet-making to clay modelling to making bat and bird boxes, science games, ukulele workshops, circus skills, singing, medieval games and the ever popular facepainting!
“On top of all that, we have theatre shows at 12.30pm and 2.40pm, magic shows and balloon modelling throughout the day, performances on the bandstand from OpenStoryTellers, Stagecoach, with some cracking music from young bands and DJs from 3.30pm-6pm.
“All your needs will be covered! There will be a change and feed tent run by the local NCT, a water/rest tent run by HOPE, refreshments in the form of Wrap & Roll by Fair Frome from 12pm-2pm, Lucille’s caravan catering, Tony’s ice creams, café in the park, Pod’s cakes and Big Bang pizza.
“Our focus this year is on making sure that the festival is as accessible and inclusive as possible to all young people and we were pleased to have been able to consult with various special schools and groups to enable this. We have two specialist workers available to support children with high level needs that can be booked beforehand and all children with additional needs can receive a ‘Fastpass’ on registering at event info. Next to this, we will have our sensory area with quieter space, messy sensory play, and Children’s World will be creating a sensory space with an underwater theme.
“We look forward to welcoming you at the event info point in Victoria Park where you can register and receive a goody bag on a first-come first-served basis; kindly sponsored by Tumble Tots, Asda, Volunteer Frome and Bunnings.
“There will also be the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for the chance of winning some amazing prizes and the money raised will go towards the Frome Children’s Festival Christmas party.
“The Children’s Festival is brought to you by Purple Elephant Productions and Young People Frome, with funding from the Big Lottery, Frome Town Council and local sponsors Sydenhams, Azimuth Marquees and Asda.”
