Sat. 22nd June. West of England Premier Cricket League – WEPL Somerset Bridgwater 2nd 155 all out Frome 1st 156-3
The showmen travelled away to their league rivals for a match that would decide whether Frome would pull ahead of their competitors, or be challenged for top position in the league by Bridgwater.
Bridgwater won the toss and elected to bat. R Croker (3-25) opened Frome’s attack with three early wickets, leaving Bridgwater on the back foot with 17-3 from 9 overs. Bridgwater seemed to be recovering when the showmen rallied with Watts (2-21), M Sanger (2-32), Knight (2-39) and Lett (1-34) all claiming wickets.
Frome’s run chase began with a 63 opening partnership from P Sanger (21) and Lett (86), which dented Bridgwater’s hopes of reaching the top spot in the league. The remaining runs were chased down by R Croker (9), S Croker (20no) and Veal (7no). This meant the showmen would claim 20 points from the game, giving them a 29 point lead against both rivals Bridgwater and Chard.
