Frome Birth Talk has been awarded £1,000 from the Asda Community Foundation, which the charity says will be used to support its Friday toddler group.
The Asda Community Foundation Grant supports projects and activities that benefit the local community. Frome Birth Talk has received the grant in recognition of the valuable work the charity does in supporting new parents in the town, including offering counselling, drop-in sessions and more.
“We are very grateful to Jackie Bryant and the Asda Community Foundation team for this grant. The group provides a safe space for parents and their children to relax, make friends, and enjoy healthy snacks and a warm drink (of proper coffee!). For families experiencing isolation, along with the anxiety and depression that can come with it, such groups are a lifeline,” explained director Suzy Cristinacce.
The charity was established after funding for the free counselling service at Frome Hospital was cut at the end of 2016.
Suzy added, “Demand for Frome Birth Talk’s free counselling and groups continues to grow, but so does competition for funding, so this kind of support means the world to us.”
“The toddler group runs every Friday, apart from bank holidays, from 9.30am to 11.30am at Trinity Church Hall. Parents, grandparents, carers and preschool children of any age (including babies) are welcome!”
Frome’s Asda Community Champion, Jackie, said, “A big congratulations to Frome Birth Talk for securing a grant from the Asda Foundation, and thank you to Suzy for coming in to collect the cheque!”
